The first suburb north of Chicago, Evanston is serviced by the El and Metra, so it’s easy to get in and out of the city. While most Evanstonians head into Chicago, there is, in fact, fun to be had in the suburbs. After spending four years at Northwestern University, we’ve found plenty in Evanston and the surrounding ‘burbs to satisfy. Don’t overlook these gems, like Japanese grocer Sea Ranch and the famous Walker Bros., The Original Pancake House.
