Els Quatre Gats

Once upon a time, Picasso and his contemporaries gathered here to idle away the hours inventing and discussing things like Cubism

While the creative types of Els Quatre Gats are gone and have replaced with tourists (and a few Spaniards, to be fair), it is still worth a visit for a meal. I would recommend going for lunch, which is much more affordable than dinner. (Once again, hooray for Menú del día!) Els Quatre Gats is well preserved and — understandably — beautifully decorated inside, and the back room has two levels of tables, with a cozy loft above the ground floor.
