Navy Pier sucks. But the largest flat screen in Chicago with 3D? Sign me up!
I know. It’s just a movie. But the venue changes everything.
The IMAX 3D on Navy Pier is the largest (flat) screen in Chicago, with 440 seats expertly arranged to keep others’ heads out of your way. And when the feature film is in 3D? You might as well have been an actor. (Imagine, if you can, Avatar and Alice and Wonderland on this screen. Those are the movies I’ve seen here, and I still dream about them.)
Show times vary, but you’ll usually find popular movies playing around 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., while the shorter educational films play in the mornings and afternoons (like the Grand Canyon Adventure at 11 a.m.). Ticket prices are usually $17 with a $2 processing fee, and sorry, no student discounts. But there are assigned seats, and you can choose them online. I promise, it’s worth it.
