Everything you could ever want in a night out, from dinner to drinking to dancing
Rumor has it Hub 51 is a coveted spot of popular Chicago sports stars, and I can understand why. It has an upscale feel that doesn’t come across as a put-on, and it’s relaxed at the same time. The sports bar vibe is definitely present, yet not dominant. (Only a handful of televisions are located near the bar area.)
A substantial amount come for dinner and populate the many dining tables, others come post-work just to drink at the large bar located by the entrance. The crowd is a mix of well-dressed, professional-looking men and women (at least on a Thursday evening) in their 20s to 40s, and makes for a friendly atmosphere.
Downstairs is a small nightclub, which I’ll admit I scoffed at the first time I passed. But as the night progressed, my friends and I overheard some music we couldn’t pass up and decided to check it out, and it turned out to be a great time. There’s really no pretention to this “club;” there’s no additional fee to enter, no $30 drinks and no isolated VIP areas for people to pretend they’re cooler than everyone else. Instead, there’s a DJ spinning tunes everyone can dig, some small booth-style benches and tables lining the perimeter, and people just looking to dance and have fun.
