Kaufman’s Bagel and Delicatessen

Find vats of homemade pickles and fresh pastrami sandwiches at this Jewish deli

You can’t go wrong ordering a sandwich at the deli counter, but I recommend the pastrami and the corned beef with mustard, sauerkraut, onion, tomato and more. Breads are as numerous as the meats behind the counter. The challah is to die for, as is the rye, but you can also choose from a Kaiser roll, onion roll, bagel, wheat or white. If you’re extra hungry, go for the gefilte fish, salami or egg salad. And if you still find room in your stomach, top it off with strawberry ruggalach.

And after a huge meal, you won’t go home empty handed. Pack up frozen soups (lentil, chicken noodle, split pea, matzoh ball, cabbage), some noodle kugel and a bag full of their homemade pickles for a week later, when you’re hungry again.
