A French deli and bakery with killer coconut macaroons
The first thing you notice when you walk into Le Lafayette is the smell of fresh baked bread and pastries: a hint of glaze, a little olive oil and the warm, enveloping taste of yeast. The first thing you buy will be the homemade olive bread or baguette (or both). Then, you’ll wander over to the nearby pastry case full of flaky quiches and European salamis and cheeses. From there, your eyes will wander above the display, where a fresh batch of coconut macaroons and a second of chocolate-covered coconut macaroons will catch your eye. You’ll need two — one for now and one for the car ride home.
Don’t forget to peek into the wine cellar at the back before heading out the door, passing another display case of sweets you might not be able to resist.
