A Wilmette institution that dishes killer pancakes for every mood and appetite

This “Original Pancake House” has long lines on weekends, but the food comes out fast and is worth the wait. All the Classic Pancakes options are delicious (I love the Banana, 49er’s Flapjacks, Swedish, and Potato Pancakes) as are the Belgian waffles with fresh fruit and ice cream. If you’re in the mood for eggs, the benedicts will more than satisfy, and the Challah French Toast might be the most delicious you’ve ever had. But the big draw is the massive Apple Pancake ($8.95), which only differs from apple pie in that it’s covered in cinnamon and has a slightly chewier “crust.” Split it with a friend… or two.
